Inonotus obliquus, commonly known as chaga, is a species of parasitic fungus that grows mainly on birch trees in cold climates, including parts of northern Europe, Russia, Korea, and North America. Recognizable by its irregular, blackened and charcoal-like appearance, chaga is traditionally used in folk medicine for its purported health benefits.
