Description
Licorice ( Glycyrrhiza glabra) is a species of plant in the bean family ( Fabaceae), in the genus Licorice ( Glycyrrhiza). Licorice is native to Eurasia, central and south-west Asia and the Mediterranean region. Different subspecies of liquorice are mainly cultivated in Iran, Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Turkey. The main active substance in liquorice root is glycyrrhizin. It is glycyrrhizin that is responsible for the sweet taste of the root, being as much as 50 times sweeter than sucrose.
Ingredients: 100 % liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra radix), crushed and dried.
Preparation: pour 1 teaspoon of the cut root into a glass of boiling water and leave it covered for about 10-15 minutes, then strain. Do not use for more than 4 weeks without consulting your doctor. After 4 weeks of use, take a break and consult your doctor about further use.
Warnings: the product may contain traces of milk (including lactose), soya beans, peanuts, other nuts, sesame seeds, oats, eggs, shellfish, fish.Do not use in persons sensitive to the constituents of the tea. Pregnant women and people suffering from hypertension and kidney disease should avoid excessive use of liquorice. After 4 weeks of use, a break should be taken.
