What are warts?
Warts are a viral skin disorder, i.e. they are caused by viruses. Warts can be contracted through direct contact – through personal objects, through shared objects such as towels, even shaking hands during a greeting can cause warts. This is why warts are most often found on the areas that come into contact most often, i.e. the soles of the feet and the palms of the hands. The most unpleasant warts are the plantar warts, which are the ones you can infect yourself with. If you scratch a wart with your fingernail, there is a good chance that you will soon have a wart under your fingernail.
Sometimes we wrongly refer to various skin growths as warts. For example, there are skin lesions such as papillomas on the neck or certain skin lesions called seborrhoeic keratoses, which can occur anywhere on the body. However, neither is viral in origin, so if a wart-like lesion appears, it does not mean that it is really viral in origin, i.e. a wart. It is therefore always better to consult a doctor to find out the origin of the lesion and only then to proceed with the eradication of that lesion.
They can appear anywhere on the body, but most often they appear on the arms, legs or face. Warts can vary in size and shape, from small, flat formations to larger, wart-like structures.
Warts are not very dangerous to health, but because they are a virus, they can spread beyond a single wart and, if a person's immune system is weakened, can even spread very widely. That is why warts must be eradicated and not left to their own devices.
Types of warts:
Common warts. Common warts are more common on the hands and soles.
